Sacred Touches

White, pristine, unblemished…

Image

The paper I write is white

White is holy, pure

They say light is white
Because it combines all colors

So white is the mother of all colors

Image

The churning of all yellow, blue, green

Colors sacrifice their egos
To the eternal white
The matriarch of all colors

The fountain of extent colors

White appears often in nature, and down through the ages references have been made to it in music, art, poetry, and prose. It seems it’s a color many have sought and still seek to embrace. Could it be because it’s the color of the heavenly orbs, the moon and stars that illuminate darkness, or because it’s the color of light, light that warms, heals, and inspires faith, or because it’s perceived as the color of purity, purity of the spirit, of soul, and in the…

Palace of Fine Arts, San Francisco, California by Madeleine Pujals Maya

The Palace of Fine Arts was retofited in 2009.
The Palace of Fine Arts in the Marina District is a monumental structure originally constructed for the 1915 Panama-Pacific Exposition in order to exhibit works of art presented there. One of only a few surviving structures from the Exposition, it is the only one still situated on its original site. It was rebuilt in 1965, and renovation of the lagoon, walkways, and a seismic retrofit were completed in early 2009.

I Won't Take It

Day Four – a song that calms you down.

Huh. I am rarely NOT calm. If I’m upset, it usually doesn’t last long (my rants here to the contrary) so I don’t really have a “calm down” song, but if I have to choose (and that’s the point of this little exercise, isn’t it?) I would choose Nothing Else Matters by Apocalyptica.

I was never a fan of Metallica, but the covers produced by the Cello Dudes are fantastic! Apocalyptica has moved in other directions, adding electric guitar, drums and even vocals now. I’m not a fan of their newer stuff – what’s the point of classically trained cellists doing amazing heavy metal covers if they pollute it with all the things that pull them back down to the level of “regular” musicians?

This song is long enough to de-rail any bad thoughts I might be having and lead…
