Mindfulness is described as being aware, taking note and paying attention, but doing these things on purpose. Mindfulness is not about sitting down, closing your eyes and completely “zoning out” in fact that would seem to be the opposite of mindfulness. When I studied Reiki many years ago, we had to tell the group what we would most like in life. Happiness and peace were pretty much on top of the list for most people, but I remember having this overriding desire to experience clarity in my life. Clear, calm thinking. Facing life’s truths and being level headed enough to deal with life’s ups and downs with composure. This desire for calmness and clarity in my life has never left me.
